can IMRT treatment for prostate cancer cause lymphoma in bone marrow?

I had IMRT for prostate cancer one year ago. Now I have non-hodgkins lymphoma in my bone marrow. Has anyone heard of this risk?

I have never heard of this specificly, but I do know that chemo and radiation is a risk factor of all lymphomas and leukemias.
My treatment for leukemia puts me at high risk for brain cancer, as well as other types of leukemia. Which is ironic being that my treatment is also used for.. certain types of brain cancer.

Unfortunatly, it is one of those catch 22 things. The treatment for one type of cancer very often causes or atleast is a risk factor for another type.

Does hormone therapy for males suffering prostate cancer cause mental confusion?

My father has organic brain damage and moderate cognitive deficits after suffering a stroke in 2001. He has recently been diagnosed with prostate cancer. We are concerned that hormone therapy might increase his level of mental confusion. Is this a common side effect of hormone therapy to assist in treatment of prostate cancer? He is looking at radiation therapy and hormone therapy now.

No, it could actually help your cognitive abilities. Men are hardwired a weird way, and we actually need testosterone at certain points in our lives, not having the testosterone making organs, you need to substitute. I feel this would be his best bet to actually keep his sanity.

Consult with his doctor. They will tell u the truth seeing as how they see it every day.

I hope this helped!

Does too much Masturbation cause prostate cancer/problems?

I know a little bit actually helps a mans prostate but does too much of it damage it or cause prostate cancer or other problems later in life.

If you think about it so many ageing men have it

It’s true that prostate problems usually affect men in later life, but this is not as a result of excessive masturbation. In fact, recent studies show that young men who masturbate at least five times a week are less likely to develop prostate problems in later life.

What is the cause of prostate cancer?

I am doing some research on prostate cancer but everything i check it says there is no cause for it. i need to know how it affects the cell. Any ideas?

It is thought that potential causal factors act by altering the balance of male hormones in the body because prostate cancer is a hormone-sensitive cancer, like breast cancer. The male sex hormone, testosterone, produced by the testes influences the growth and spread of prostate cancer. Thus, higher testosterone levels or greater lifetime exposure to testosterone appears to contribute to its development. This has been used to explain the higher incidence rates in African Americans, who tend to have higher average testosterone levels than other ethnic groups or in tall men who may have had an earlier onset of higher testosterone levels.

Is it true that (for men) if you have your laptops on your lap, its radiatn cn cause prostate cancer?

ok first and foremost, sorry about the abbriviations at the end of the question, it turned out the question was too long so i had to make it smaller. now, I know that for men, if you have the laptop on your lap too long the heat from it damages your scrotum and you can’t have children (this is true i researched it) but can its radiation cause prostate cancer?

I’ve never heard of any radiation coming from laptops, and as far as the heat causing sterility, you’d have to have the laptop on your lap 24/7 for it to have that effect.
Hope this helps

Can prostate cancer cause your ankles to swell?

I was looking at the symptoms of prostate cancer and saw that if it has spread that it could cause your legs to swell. Also, can it cause for you not to be able to have an erection, or keep one.

I need serious answers please, this is just ammo for me to get my husband to get to the doctors… Thank you…

I can give you lots of ammo for that. My husband died of prostate cancer in 2007. Prostate cancer may have almost no symptoms at all until it is too late. The most usual symptom is having to get up to pee in the night, but that can also be a symptom of other things. By the time he experienced swelling in his ankles from prostate cancer, it would be very advanced, and he would have many other symptoms.

When prostate cancer spreads, often the first place it is apparent is in the bones. Cancer in the bones is excruciatingly painful. My husband suffered for months because of the cancer that had spread to his spine, and other bones.

Believe me, if he gets prostate cancer, whether or not he gets and maintains an erection will be the least of his worries. Erectile dysfunction is more likely to be a result of prostate cancer surgery than the cancer before it is diagnosed.

Many men avoid the prostate cancer checks because they are afraid of the rectal exam. Ask him if he would prefer a rectal exam that lasts a few seconds or months of having to wear a catheter because the cancer in his prostate has grown so much that he can no longer pass urine. And in any case, the main test for prostate cancer is a blood test, the PSA test.

My husband was a fit, active healthy man, whose only symptom was needing to pee in the night. He was still going up the mast of our sailboat, and also doing the work at the top of the masts of other sailboats for men much younger than him. He jumped from the edge of a canal to a sailboat that was loose in the canal during a hurricane in North Carolina and saved that boat and other boats that were tied in the canal on the night before the cancer was diagnosed. He lived less than 18 months after the diagnosis.

Tell your husband to go get checked. It is not a big deal, and it could be the difference between life and death. Feel free to email me if you need more information.

can a pulled musle in shoulder cause prostate cancer numbers to go up?

Long story short:
my uncle died from prostate cancer a year ago.
this caused my dad to go to the doctor. He was told he had the cancer. he goes to the doc every 6months. his numbers are going up.
He went to a natural doctor and was told he does not have the prostate cancer but he has a pulled muscle in shoulder (lymphatic i think he said) and thats causing his numbers to go up.
Could this be true?
oh sorry its not a pulled muscle but a nerve…..

doctors often base their diagnosis on a blood test called a PSA, that is called prostatic specific antigen, and it is not affected by damaged nerves or muscles in other parts of the body, your dad’s naturopath is incorrect.
The test is very specific and reacts only to antigens originating in the prostate gland… suggest your dad go back to real doctors and stop buying the naturopath’s diagnosis, especially since your uncle died from the disease.
